Providence Witnesses

Providence pilgrims, how do we want to approach this prophetic time ?

Providence is active in the entire universe and particularly in us and through us. continually discovers the sacred element of her daily life. Through poetry, spiritual accompaniment, study and discernment, with persons and communities, she experiences the tenderness of Providence which embraces the Earth.
"All I know of tomorrow is that Providence will rise before the sun." (Lacordaire)

Who is Providence for me?

Providence Associates

The meaning of "Providence" for me, is in giving to those in need,

wherever I possibly can. Blessed Emilie Gamelin, foundress of the

order in which I have been chosen to be an associate, is a model

for me as I endeavor to serve the poor of our day, as she did.

Patricia Gallagher, PA

Providence is helping the poor, visiting the sick in hospital and nursing homes,

living a good Christian life, being kind and loving to all people.

Providence for me, is the loving attentiveness of God expressed in GOODNESS. This Goodness permeates creation. As creatures of this "Good God" we are invited to participate creatively and prophetically in expressing this Goodness in our being and our doing.

Linda Jo Reynolds, SP

To me, Providence is a person, in the first place. It is God enfleshed and made visible to our eyes. This unique God is called Providence, Love, Living Person. Providence is a benevolent being who fills us with happiness, joy, strength and love… Providence allows us to grow richer and better through our hardest trials. Providence is this God who invites us to go towards the other: the poor, the homeless, the battered women… Providence grants us compassion.

Georgette Rochon, SP

Providence has been manifested in my life…

Providence Associates

I live Providence as I proclaim and minister to Christ's lonely, hurting people. I

feel called to be Christ's hands and His voice. It is a daily challenge and a

privilege to see the suffering Jesus in the people I visit and minister to. Many

is the time they are Providence to me.

Jean Burnell, PA

I have felt Providence on several occasions, and particularly during a trip to Southern Chile. God gave me wonderful days and exceptionally beautiful natural scenes. I shared with people I had never met before and all of them witnessed to God's immense love for us. But above all, I remember the pathetic moment when my sister told me from her hospital bed that the physicians would perform a mastectomy because of cancer. When I returned home, I fell on my knees and prayed to our Almighty and Eternal Father, who has the last word in everything, and I begged Him that the doctors make one last exam before surgery. The day of the scheduled operation, doctors did examine her once again and it was determined that surgery was not necessary.

Because I believe that God loves and cares for all creation, I trust in God's infinite goodness that whatever happens to me is God's will and for my good. I only have to look back in my life and say, aha! If God was there before, he/she will be there again and again. "All things work for good for those who love God."

We have experienced Providence recently. On our way to Cairo, Egypt, the motor of our car became overheated and we had to stop. By chance we were entering the city and we found a mechanic in the neighborhood to help us out of this unfortunate situation. After two hours and a half driving in the desert, the incident happened just as we were nearing inhabited areas, thus averting potentially dramatic consequences. We see this as the kind attention of Providence.
