Center for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation
The Centre for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation was created in 2005 as a result of recommendations that came from different congregational meetings (2002 General Chapter and General Conferences in 2003, 2004 and 2005). It was established as a centre that would furnish information and provide support for the sisters and their ministries with reference to social, environmental and political issues from the point of view of the congregation as a global entity.
Vision and mission
The love of Christ impels us as Sisters of Providence, to proclaim God's providential reign, choosing fullness of life for all creation. Recognizing the struggle for justice as a constitutive dimension of the gospel, the Centre in keeping with our mission of Providence with and for the poor, provides the opportunity for Sisters of Providence and Providence Associates:
- to grow in awareness of the realities of life, globally, nationally, regionally and locally;
- to collaborate actively among themselves, with other religious congregations, and with various peace and justice groups and organizations;
- to facilitate our responses as an international congregation, as well as provinces, local communities, individual Sisters and Providence Associates.
